Great ways to avoid using the sentence “Lost my car keys” seriously

“Hi, I’m calling to in to inform that I will be late to work because I lost my car keys. Please inform my supervisor.” This is a string of two phrases that all of us have said one time or the other over the phone at some point in our lives. Whether it was a lie because you slept through your alarm or whether it was a real panicky situation because losing one’s car keys is a huge inconvenience, point is, we’ve been there. If you are one who falls or you think that you might fall in that category because you do seem to misplace things an awful lot, you might want to take up some extra steps to avoid your paycheck from getting a hit by getting late or miss out on an important meeting or a function just because you ‘lost your car keys.’ While you writhe in the emotional and financial displeasure of having a new set made, people will probably think that it is an excuse, so better safe than sorry.

One of the first things that you can do is to have a spare key made. Have some extra cash lying around or saved up? Get a whole set of keys for your house, car and any other thing that you might think of. Have them made so in an emergency situation you do not have to waste precious time looking for a key that you might not find. You can use the spare key for the emergency and look for it at a leisurely pace when you get back home. Generally when under pressure or anxious a human brain works overtime and is unable to comprehend or work properly to do anything efficiently and correctly.

If this situation arises and you in fact do not have a spare key, the first thing you can do is to remain calm. By taking a few deep breaths keep on going with your search but with a calm head so you do not panic and A) make a mess of things and B) search the same place over and over again. Try searching for it systematically to avoid repetition and wasting time. By panicking and getting frustrated you will be searching for something as tiny as keys being frantic and unfocused, therefore calm and level headed searching is highly important. A researcher who wrote a book on how to find lost things says that things definitely do wander on their own, but no more than 18 inches from where they are usually placed.

As a last resort if you cannot find your keys, you can search for a locksmith service by hopping on over to Google and type in “lost my car keys” and it will be able to pull up some locksmith service providers for you to choose from. Always go through the website of a service provider thoroughly and double check.
